After receiving his MD degree from Harvard Medical School and Ph.D. in Medical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Berkenblit completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then completed an additional year of specialized training in hip and knee replacement surgery at Johns Hopkins, under the direction of Dr. David Hungerford.
Dr. Berkenbilt is trained in the latest techniques of partial and total knee and hip replacement, joint-preserving procedures for earlier stages of arthritis, and revision techniques for treatment of previous hip and knee replacements that have failed. He also treats a variety of other orthopedic injuries and conditions, including surgical and nonoperative treatment of fractures.
Suffering from SI Joint Pain?
The SI joint is a common source of lower back pain; therefore, it is important to diagnose the injury and identify treatment options.
Dr. Berkenblit is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and a member of the Orthopaedic Research Society and the Maryland Orthopaedic Association. He has presented at national and international orthopedic meetings and currently serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty.
A native of Long Island, New York, Dr. Berkenblit enjoys skiing, hiking, travel, playing the trumpet, and spending time with his wife and daughter. He holds volunteer leadership positions with the Roland Springs Community Association, the Park School Parents’ Association, and the MIT Alumni Association.
